Alan works with Steve and the Xinfu team in its Asian practice. He is a specialist in particular on business in India and other fast emerging markets.
Now based in Hong Kong, Alan helps foreign companies on their Asia strategies, and works with emerging international companies from transitional countries. He was the first foreigner to join the board of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, India's leading private sector industrial group. At Tatas he was responsible for internationalisation at a time when the Group's overseas sales grew from $2.4 billion to $38 bilion in 5 years. His earlier career has mixed general management, business development and finance including assignments with Jardine Matheson, Guinness, Courtaulds and SG Warburg. For three years he was a Special Adviser to the British Prime Minister, John Major, in The No 10 Policy Unit.
