Brian is one of UK’s best known Rugby League players, coaches and pundits. A full time Policeman, Brian was first capped for what is now Bradford Bulls in 1978. Brian played first class rugby for 15 years in over 400 games for Bradford and, finally, Wakefield Trinity.
Brian captained both the English rugby league team and the British Lions. At 23, he was the youngest Lions captain to tour Australia. He is also one of the few British players to have played for an Australian club: he played the 1985 Australian season for The Cronulla Sharks. On retirement, Brian turned to coaching. Coaching the Bradford Bulls between 2001 and 2006, Brian became the only man to coach a club to three Super League Grand Final victories. The club also won the Challenge cup in 2003 and three world championships in 2002, 2004 and 2006. At club level, Brian has also coached Wigan Warriors and Welsh side, The Crusaders.
Internationally, as head coach of Great Britain, Brian was the first British coach to beat Australia in Sydney for over 40 years. Brian received an Honoury doctorate from the University of Bradford in 2002 and is a rugby league commentator on the BBC and Sky Sports. At Xinfu, Brian shares his insights into getting the best from teams and how he focused on both business and personal performance and leadership in coaching and developing some of the highest performing and best known rugby league sides of recent years.
